We all need to use sunblock or sunscreen to protect us from damaging UV rays, which not only increase our risk of skin cancer but also cause premature damage and aging. But, when I use sunblock I don’t want to feel it and I certainly don’t want everyone to be able to see it – no chalky film, please! Here are a couple of my go-to’s for the face:
Intellishade. Where tinted moisturizer, anti-aging treatment and sunblock meet. This is a great product for anyone who wants natural and light coverage with the benefits of a sunblock. I don’t wear foundation because it is difficult to find one that matches my skin and I prefer a natural look. Intellishade has been designed to match everyone’s skin color – and it does! I have yet to find a patient who it does not work for. Skin appears more smooth, fine lines less visible. The matte formula also contains pore-minimizing technology. Both formulas, original and matte, include powerful wrinkle-reducing peptides, antioxidants, and provide broad spectrum SPF45 UVA & UVB coverage with micronized zinc.
Aveeno Positively Radiant. This is a good daily moisturizer with SPF 30 UVA/UVB sunscreen which contains soy and natural light diffusers. The combination of these products evens out skin tone (with antioxidants, including vitamin E) and reflects light so skin looks brighter. This sunscreen is also oil-free, hypoallergenic, and noncomedogenic.
The moisturizers with sunblock that I reviewed for acne-prone skin are also “film-free”.
Remember: apply sunblock or sunscreen at least 20-30 minutes before sun exposure.
